About Fran

I’m a Registered Nurse and Credentialled Diabetes Educator based in Perth, Western Australia.

I was compelled to go into the specialty of Diabetes when I first met my husband many moons ago. He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 19. Sadly, he felt he had the most negative experience with his health professionals at the time. He felt judged based on his “numbers” and not seen as a person. Seeing his experience, and subsequent disconnect from his diabetes team drew me to becoming a diabetes educator, in the hope of changing this experience for others.

I’ve since worked in the diabetes space for the last 11 years, predominantly with people living with Type 1. I also have vast experience in supporting people with Pre-diabetes, Type 2, Gestational and other forms of Diabetes, such as steroid induced, CF related, and Type 3c.

I’ve held senior diabetes nursing roles in both the public and private hospital setting. I’ve co-authored clinical papers and have implemented diabetes specific policies and procedures within the hospital systems.

My move to private practice was a decision that was driven by my desire to provide frontline support and education to people in the preventive space.

My passion is empowering individuals so that they feel in control of their health and the best version of themselves.

They say that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life, and I am fortunate enough to have found a job that I absolutely love and am extremely passionate about.

Outside of work live, I am a mum of two little boys, and love spending time with my family. I also love going out for a good meal (preferably brunch), retail therapy (child free of course), listening to music and travelling.
