Continuous Glucose Monitors

Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) are a technology that allows for continuous visibility of a person’s sensor glucose levels.

There are different brands in the market. CGM involves a sensor probe that is placed under the skin that reads the glucose levels and a transmitter that collects the data and sends it to receiving device, which may be an insulin pump or a mobile phone. CGMs can tell a person what their current glucose level is, where it is predicted to go, and where it has been. They also have the added benefit of having alarms that can be set if your glucose levels are too low or too high.

Flash Glucose Monitors (FGM) are very similar to CGM, however instead of having the continuous visibility, they require “scanning” in order to view the data.

I can help you decide which device is right for you based on your goals, teach you how to correctly insert and use the device and provide you with education on how to interpret the data.
